Once a year the staff at Burr Bridal get to make the 3 hour trip to Harrogate to view and buy from the Designers' next season collections. Don't be fooled this always includes 2 days of solid work but the champagne bar takes the edge of it! Several of our Designers' showcase here so Harrogate is usually our most important buying trip of the year and over the 2 days we sit through catwalk after catwalk, seeing hundreds of brand spanking new wedding gowns. (not to mention all the Bridesmaid, Evening Wear, Mother of the Bride dresses and every kind of accessory you can think!) So Harrogate is really good at giving us an insight of the trends that are coming through from the Designers.

Darker contrasts are here to stay! The Ivory over light gold/champagne/dark ivory etc etc that started making their appearance Fall 2014 have hit the catwalks in full force, with Designers' experimenting with all kinds of warm, contrasting colours that are complimenting every Brides' skin tone! Beautiful colours such as Almond, Cafe & Champagne are being paired with delicate and bold Ivory/Off-White laces for such an amazing contrast, you can't help but let your eyes be drawn to the dress and wowed by its clever design. The depth that this effect creates is working so well on our Brides' shapes it is definitely a colour choice to consider!

Off the shoulder and Portrait necklines making a comeback! We already had a couple of gowns that featured jackets that created a portrait neckline over a strapless gown but wow Harrogate has shown us that these two necklines are back with a bang! Some stunning gowns from Sophia Tolli feature off the shoulder sleeves and delicate straps that made us stop and gawp when we saw them on the runway. Their modern twist on what can sometimes be seen as a retro bridal fashion has made the neckline much more appealing to the modern and fashion aware Bride. It is definitely a trend here to stay over the next few seasons and we at Burr Bridal can't wait to get these samples into the boutique and share them with all you lovely Brides!

Cut - Outs and Cool Seperates! This is still a trend that is still eeking its way through from the Couture Designers. A couple of our Designers' featured 1 or 2 of these style dresses but I think that this trend is still building for the Bridal industry. However saying that the cut outs and seperates has his the Prom and Evening Wear dresses massively! We didn't see one prom/evening wear designer that didn't have cut-outs or seperates in their collections and already with a huge demand from their clientelle. Prom girls start looking now, prom dresses are about to get more dramatic. Going from ballgown plain satin skirts sitting just above the belly button to beautiful fit and flare bottoms both paired with the most gorgeously fitted top adorned with lace or Swarovski crystals! Showing just a couple of inches of girls' waist makes such a statement. We at Burr Bridal settled for a few cut outs purely based on knowing what our clientelle have previously asked for, but as soon as someone asks we will join the Seperates movement! Bridal gown seperates, watch this space!
